Seriously. The American economy is starting to flat line. The Treasury Department is scrambling to raise money to pay for deficit spending expected to exceed $400 billion this year. The price of gas keeps setting records and now we’re being told it’s only high because it was too cheap to begin with. The top 50 hedge fund managers earned a combined $29 billion last year. Real income hasn’t grown in ages. The price of basics like bread and milk is spiking. Wall Street was disappointed with Exxon’s $10.9 billion in profit last quarter. Although temporarily halted, the dollar appears to be in a free fall. The Fed sparked a rally on Wall Street by suggesting yesterday’s rate cut will be its last – i.e. they aren’t handing out the funny money anymore – at least for now.
Is everyone so overwhelmed by the news they simply tune-out or tune-in to something more “exciting”? It’s no wonder the top story on CNN right now has to do with an affair Barbara Walters’ had with a married senator over 30 years ago! Talk about “breaking news.” Does anyone else feel like they’re standing in one big grocery checkout isle every time they surf the net for news?
Hopefully CNN isn’t really used by people to gather news and inform themselves on matters of public importance. We suppose it’s easier to strike up water cooler chat about why United States Sen. David Vitter is still in office while his alleged madam was found dangling from the end of a rope in her mother’s storage shed. How sad is that?
Meanwhile, Sen. John McCain, determined to be ignored, explained the problem with America’s health-care system. According to Sen. McCain:
What exactly is the problem with the American health-care system
. . .
The biggest problem with the American health-care system is one of cost and access…
Well turn me upside down, spank my bottom and call me born-again! I believe Sen. McCain has pinpointed the problem. It’s too expensive and a lot of people can’t access it! This should most certainly be at the top of Fox News’ most emailed articles. Let’s go check and see what people are emailing to friends and family. Let’s see what article just begs to be read…..
Well how about that. The most emailed article right now is “Pregnant Woman Sees Jesus Image In Ultrasound.” According to the article:
She showed the image to her sister, a mother of four, to get her opinion. “I was expecting to see little body parts,” Sledge’s sister Tequoia Smith told MyFox Cleveland. “Like a face, arms and legs.”
But she too believes saw Jesus on the cross.
“As soon as I saw it I was like oh my gosh.”
“People say maybe my baby is gonna be blessed and maybe it is a good sign,” said mother-to-be Sledge. “I don’t know, I’ve done wrong in my life, maybe he’s forgiven me early.”
Just maybe Sledge, just maybe. But a big fat “SHAME ON YOU FOX NEWS” for failing to capitalize “he” in that last sentence.
Anyway, just for fun, let’s take a look-see at what CNN’s most emailed story is right now….
Not bad. The top emailed story as of right now is “Don’t Let A Hospital Kill You.” That’s at least somewhat related to Sen. McCain’s press release. Of course, a hospital can’t kill you if it won’t admit you in the first place and the best way to ensure that is to not have insurance. So, it looks as though “access” and “insurance” might not be such good things after all if the hospital is going to kill you anyway. No wonder this health-care issue is so complicated!
Bottom Line: At least the “D.C. Madam” will give everyone at work a shared story tomorrow. Ask your work colleagues first thing tomorrow morning if they “heard about the D.C. Madam.” Then ask them if they support the $300 billion homeowner bailout bill that’s moving through congress right now and will be funded by our tax dollars? MediaHerd predicts that in a year or two we’ll be treated to news reports about the “fraud” and “waste” and “abuse” surrounding this program.
